They say that you should never take your work home. However, did you know that some actors do just the opposite? No, they are not taking their film characters back to their normal lives, rather bringing home something from the sets, mostly props and costumes that hold sentimental value to them. Without these signature items, they wouldn’t be the characters they portray.

Sometimes, a film is so good that the audience associates its characters to their respective costumes. It’s understandable, however, as there are just props that can easily be trademarked by big pictures, and, of course, even the thespians become fond of these items, so much so that they simply can’t bear to leave work without the props.

Here are the actors who took their beloved props and/or costumes:

Rupert Grint

Rupert Grint played the best friend, Ron Weasley, of the titular character in the Harry Potter films. Weasley is remembered as the slightly mischievous yet a very supportive friend to Harry. The movie gave us a whole new world of wizardry and magical adventures which left the audiences in awe for years and even decades. Even the actors in the film were so fond of their roles that saying goodbye to the sets after the series ended was hard for them.

Rupert Grint

Rupert Grint had to take the Golden Egg home

Particularly Grint, who grew a fondness for the iconic golden egg from the “Goblet of Fire,” which Harry opened underwater to hear the soulful singing of the merpeople. Although, if opened above water, would release unbearable, high-pitched screams. As such, he took it home – er – stole it from the set, but not long before the production team started noticing that the valuable prop studded with crystals was missing.

Apparently, he hid it inside his pillowcase, and after Warner Bros. launched an investigation, Grint secretly put the golden egg back in the same place where he stole it. He kind of just borrowed it for his home, just spending 13 hours with his beloved item and gave it back when producers started panicking.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart may be best known for her role as Bella in the “Twilight” films but few people know that she also stole a prop from the sets and secretly took it home. The item in question was a sparkler given to her by her on-screen partner Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson. In “Eclipse,” the vampire popped the important question to his girlfriend with a ring so huge it was unmissable.

Kristen Stewart took home two things from the “Twilight” film set

But that’s not the only thing Stewart took from the set, she also snatched the moon ring that was given to Bella by her mom. As per reports, the actress did this because it has a deeper meaning: it reminds her of Catherine Hardwicke, the director of “Twilight,” whom she has a special connection with.

Chris Hemsworth

Whenever you see Chris Hemsworth, what do you instantly associate him with? That’s right, the actor is well known for his most powerful (pun intended) character yet, Thor. You’ve probably guessed by now that the actor took home his magical and ultra-heavy hammers. Yup, because he didn’t only take one.

Chris Hemsworth

It turned out that Hemsworth has five hammers, known in the sci-fi “Avengers” films as Mjolnir, in his house, including one in his bathroom, which, in an interview, he even explained in jest that it may be the reason why people take so long in his bathroom.

Robert Downey Jr.

Speaking of “Avengers,” Hemsworth’s co-star, Robert Downey Jr., also had a tiny prop taken home – well, not that tiny. While most thespians try their hardest to keep a small prop or a piece of costume with them as remembrance, some of which can be pocketed or placed in the bag, the same can’t be said of the “Iron Man” actor, who got the letter “A” from the STARK sign in his tower.

Did we mention that it measured 30 feet? Although he did not technically steal it because he even mentioned it with the crew, it deserves to be included on this list because of its massive size. Just imagine how he brought it home.

Chris Pratt

The 2014 film “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which starred Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Dave Batista, and Zoe Saldana, was a hit after being able to earn 20 percent more than the projected sales. It was a hit that deserved a sequel, which, of course, was the “Vol. 2.” But as much as the lead star played the protagonist, Pratt was a thief in real life, at least of his costume.

Don’t get him wrong, Pratt admitted that he took his maroon jacket for his visits to children’s hospital so that he can become Star-Lord for them.
